Preliminary (PET)

This exam corresponds to level B1 in the Common European Framework of Reference. With this level of language proficiency, learners should be able to:

• Understand the main points of clear standard input and produce simple connected text on familiar matters regularly encountered at work, school, leisure as well as topics that are familiar or of personal interest, etc.

• Deal with communications in most of the situations likely to arise while travelling.

• Express themselves in a simple and coherent fashion on common subjects and personal interests. They should be able to describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

 

PET assesses reading and writing, listening and speaking, therefore the exam consists of 3 parts: Reading and writing, listening and speaking.

 

At Talk Talk Academy these courses are directed towards adolescents and adults with a threshold or intermediate knowledge of the English language, working on all the skills together.
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

First (FCE)

This exam corresponds to level B2 in the Common European Framework of Reference. At this level of language proficiency, learners should be able to:

• Understand the main ideas of complex texts on both specific and abstract subjects and actively participate in technical discussions within his/her field of specialization.

• Interact with native speakers with a degree of spontaneity and fluency that makes regular interaction quite possible without strain for either party.

• Produce clear and detailed text on a wide range of subjects.

• Explain a viewpoint on any current issues and giving the advantages and disadvantages of different situations.

 

FCE evaluates reading, listening and speaking, dividing these into a 4-part exam.

Reading and writing, use of English, listening  and speaking.

 

At Talk Talk Academy these courses are directed towards adolescents and adults with an intermediate-to-advanced level of proficiency in the language, working on all the skills together.
